Pikachu inside a Pokeball?? Hey guys! Today I have another Illustration speed art for you. I thought of this idea because being the nerd I am I started watching Pokemon Indigo league on Netflix lol. Pikachu never goes inside his pokeball as we all know. There are many discussions and theories out there as to why that is. Here is a concept, that Pikachu barely fits in the ball. For those who are interested in how this was made: Sketching: I started by drawing a circle and getting the basic poke ball drawn. Next I added a partial face of crying / sad pikachu. I added some shading effects and sketched in where things like highlights would go in the finished design. In photoshop I lowered the opacity of my sketch and began the inking / line work process. Photoshop Inking: I knew that I would not be able to draw a perfect circle and make straight lines. I used a circle with a stroke for the circles / spheres in the poke ball and I held shift while drawing the straight lines for the poke ball with a hard paint brush. Next adjusted lines and refined the face. Making sure to add the details in the eyes to make the tears pop. Photoshop coloring: I took use of the layers to color behind the line work to make sure I stayed in the lines ( like you were taught in elementary school :D ). Next I took various shades of colors to add the shadows and highlights. Using white and lowering the opacity with some cool brush techniques to make the glass pokeball top. A few lighting adjustment and details later and you have the final product.
